Sometimes, being incompetent is necessary for growth

Being incompetent can happen from taking risks when assuming new challenges without preparation. But as incompetence can be unavoidable in our lives from time to time, nobody likes to feel incompetent.

We work in an industry of great specialization and knowledge, which means that each of us is trained in a variety of skills. The real challenge is to know when we should leave our comfort zone and try new things in opposition to perpetuating specialization.

Many times, career evolution means assuming more responsibility, and responsibility is in most cases tied with management skills. But not everyone likes to manage.

There is no personal growth without taking risks, but the defenitive risk is to be incompetent when assuming new challenges that heavily contradict our tastes, ambitions, and inner competencies.

It's always our choice.
