Driving positive transformation

Flash Interview with María Gil

Call To Opportunities — Jul 2023

Meet María Gil

C — In your opinion, what is the greatest opportunity and the greatest threat in this technological context in which we live?

MG — The greatest opportunity is to have the mindset to reinvent how we do things and be proactive in discovering more friendly and effective ways to create a fantastic customer experience, given the continuous technological disruption. The greatest threat lies in potentially undervaluing the impact of technologies or the speed at which they advance, which could lead to passiveness and stagnation. Looking at threats from a different angle, the mounting cyber-risks need to be managed both technologically and behaviorally.

C — Give an example of a missed opportunity for you and what you learned from it?

MG — I prefer not to dwell on missed opportunities as we can never know how things would have turned out if decisions were made differently. I approach life looking forward without regrets, as it tends to make me and the people around me happier and more productive. While we can learn from past successes and mistakes, it is harder to learn from missed opportunities since they involve too much guesswork and speculation. Instead, I focus on trying to make the best choices in the present and adapting to new circumstances as they arise.

C — Can you give examples where our business's opportunity cost might be too high?

MG — At Celfocus, we are fortunate to have a brilliant talent community positioned at the core of the technological revolution. However, if we don't focus our efforts on growth, future-oriented missions, and shifting resources away from legacy activities, it could result in a significant opportunity cost. There are incredible solutions available to address relevant client problems, and we are ready to solve them. The new organizational and strategic reflections align with this purpose.

C — In your opinion, is it necessary to be lucky to be successful in this technology business? Why?

MG —  While luck can sometimes play a role in success, I believe it is not sustainable and certainly not the sole determinant. Success primarily stems from a combination of hard work, empathy, continuous learning, adaptability, strategic decision-making, and seizing opportunities. Luck may create favorable circumstances, but it's the individual's actions and capabilities that ultimately drive success. This belief applies to the technological business in the same way.

C — If you had to explain the opportunity for Celfocus in one word, what would it be? Why?

MG — Transformation. Celfocus has the opportunity to transform and become a major player in the global technological transformation. Celfocus is well positioned to drive positive technological transformation for businesses, enabling them to innovate, optimize operations, and create value. This word encapsulates the core opportunity Celfocus offers to its clients, helping them navigate the evolving technological landscape and stay ahead in their respective industries.
