Call To Action — Jan 2018

We all want to decide what our future will be like, to do so, we must be able to simultaneously guarantee two types of future: near and distant.

Not seeing beyond short term is as dangerous as not doing short term well. What happens now is what will take us to the long term. To make a certain future happen, we must know how to cautiously take care of the short term.

We must build a structurally balanced success; whose consequences are the ingredients of what we decide we want to be. The future is a continuous journey, full of certainties and distractions, conquests and defeats, advances and setbacks.

Success depends as much on details as on imagination.

We are so wrapped up in our own problems, in our own annoyances, that we are unable to be shaken from our selfishness to see that, actually, there’s much bigger fish to fry.

DECEMBER 2017

DU - Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Compliant

In 2015, du started a programme to ensure that all systems were eligible for the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). A standard that requires operators to have information security standards when handling branded credit cards.

For this project, Celfocus ensured business functionalities in DSP(9 of 40 processes) and CRM (15 processes) systems were compliant with PCI-DSS to strengthen the Credit Card information handled in du’s systems.

In December, Celfocus successfully delivered the project and du agents are now able to use credit card information in a more reliable way by enforcing the credit card swiping capabilities to prevent errors and fraud, obfuscate credit card numbers when displayed on-screens, minimize the storage of sensitive credit card information and assure credit card owners authorization to auto payments actions.

DTV ANALYTICS

The Vodafone Group VTV Analytics programme, initiated in May 2017, focuses on delivering a single and transversal TV analytics solution that will provide OpCos with useful and actionable information.

To do so, Celfocus has provided the Vodafone Group, and each of the OpCos to on board Vodafone TV (VTV), with a highly scalable SaaS solution that computes and presents real-time KPIs on audiences, customer preferences and video service quality.

The solution, based on a cloud infrastructure (AWS), uses Fast Data technologies to collect and process around 600Gb/day of TV-Boxes and Mobile Devices data from 2,5M Customers. At the moment, two Tier 1 OpCos (Spain and Italy) are already on board and ready to access a set of pre-built VTV dashboards.

Celfocus Automated Testing Framework integrates with Vodafone’s Cloudstore Project

Today’s Enterprise customers are operating across multiple clouds and need access to more flexible, scalable and cost-efficient IT infrastructure to support all their communication and data storage needs.

Vodafone develops and continuously improves its cloud services offer, designated CloudStore. Cloudstore is Vodafone’s Marketplace where Enterprise customers can purchase various off-the-shelf Cloud based business applications and solutions, utilizing services across a worldwide footprint of locations on the Vodafone network that will enable them to grow their business.

While developing the latest version of the Cloudstore platform, Vodafone wanted to include test automation, to cover the more than 100 test cases identified in the initial battery, into the current delivery framework. The main challenges to accomplish this goal were related with a short delivery time, 2 months, and the array of different technologies used.

Celfocus approach to these challenges included the utilization of its own test automation agnostic framework which, in comparison with frameworks from other suppliers, proved to be the most appropriated to the project.

Celfocus’ framework enabled an agile delivery model, which proved pivotal in the project success since it allowed shorter developments and feedback cycles and a deeper collaboration, with all involved stakeholders. Additionally, it permitted for continuous testing, triggered via the existing DevOps pipeline and delivered an automated dashboard, showing project progress and status.

The governance model defined allowed for the project delivery in agile with 7 weeks sprints.

By using Celfocus automated testing framework, Vodafone accomplished, in a small timeframe, the functional test cases total integration where the final test suite delivered 75 test cases, covering the same scenarios in a more efficient manner. The framework proved to be extremely adaptable to different types of test scenarios, operating system agnostic and covering multiple browsers.

Furthermore, by using an agile approach, the project team gained flexibility to adjust to changes without compromising the tests cases integrity and ease of maintenance which ensured fast progress even operating in the development environment which was subject to daily changes.
