Is competition the only way for human nature to progress and innovate?
Successful athletes, in both individual and team games, depend on the same factors: talent, focus and teamwork.
Putting aside pertinent and impertinent comparisons between sports and business, it is in fact true that we depend as much on ourselves as individuals, as in others to reach positive results.
In sports and in business, cooperation and competition are coexistent. It is in fact the essence of most sports. In business, it is a basic principle of the market.
Being competitive implies being above someone or wanting to beat someone. But the biggest competition will always be individual progress.
Being better isn’t about being exclusive… it is about being sufficiently different in the right context. The best competitor is successful when he/she knows how to create a viable alternative at the right moment, rather than being the best, at all times.
Being sufficiently different is exactly what is revolutionising new businesses and the economy that arises from audacity, creativity and less from domination.
Being the best in the world is the most momentary, transitional we can ever aspire to be.
Who can build the tallest tower with these ingredients? And why does a surprising group always beat the average?
Global Inspiration Day
On June 6th, at One – Your first stop, Celfocus hosted an event for all – Global Inspiration Day. An event with hopes of sharing, inspiring, exploring and discovering ideas, technology, journeys and so much more.
And on this day, we did that and so much more. In fact, six of our colleagues shared innovative ideas and experiences, a special guest brought insights and thoughts for the future and our CEO shed light on motive.
Carlos Brotas – Immersive Telecommunications
Carla Penedo – The humanity of automation
Miguel Contente – Better work environment with IoT and AI
Gil Braz- Agile is not the future
Marco Carvalho- How can Blockchain change our future? Starting today!
Sérgio Pinheiro – Journey of 50985 miles
Gherd Leonard- The Digital Transformation of Business and Society
Paulo Trigo – Motive
To end such a motivational event, we enjoyed each other’s company over a few drinks, dinner and a sensational dance floor.
Take a look back on this day. Video & Photos.
