Call To Sports — Jul 2018

Is competition the only way for human nature to progress and innovate?

Successful athletes, in both individual and team games, depend on the same factors: talent, focus and teamwork.

Putting aside pertinent and impertinent comparisons between sports and business, it is in fact true that we depend as much on ourselves as individuals, as in others to reach positive results.

In sports and in business, cooperation and competition are coexistent. It is in fact the essence of most sports. In business, it is a basic principle of the market.

Being competitive implies being above someone or wanting to beat someone. But the biggest competition will always be individual progress.

Being better isn’t about being exclusive… it is about being sufficiently different in the right context. The best competitor is successful when he/she knows how to create a viable alternative at the right moment, rather than being the best, at all times.

Being sufficiently different is exactly what is revolutionising new businesses and the economy that arises from audacity, creativity and less from domination.

Being the best in the world is the most momentary, transitional we can ever aspire to be.

Who can build the tallest tower with these ingredients? And why does a surprising group always beat the average?

Taking on Consumer IoT

Celfocus’ IoT team has recently strengthened its position in Consumer IoT.

V by Vodafone is an IoT offer that enables consumers to connect millions of home and leisure electronics products to the Group’s dedicated global IoT network. In May, Celfocus was selected to help Vodafone enhance and maintain this solution so that it may support all market demands.

C-IoT is a market in great expansion and it is a great opportunity for CSPs and Celfocus to bring the IoT world to consumers. This is an important step for Celfocus as we are now engaged with Vodafone Group IoT in both the Consumer and Enterprise segments.

VF-PT Digital Transformation Hub

In 2017, Vodafone Portugal inaugurate the Digital Hub, a service centre, representing both IT and Business. This centre became an enabler of the Digital Transformation strategy at Vodafone Portugal.

In its first phase, Vodafone Portugal selected Celfocus as the system integrator to initiate the digital transformation to their unassisted public channels: My Vodafone & Corporate Website.

Using Agile delivery methodology, Celfocus supported this service by delivering, in June 2018, the new digital unassisted portals, leveraged on CELFOCUS Omnichannel and Adobe Experience Manager CMS. Also included in this phase was a Fiber Configurator and a Digital Index that allows enterprise to evaluate how Digital they really are.

Both unassisted channels, My Vodafone & Corporate Website, now take advantage of a cutting-edge user experience and a brand new look & feel aligned with the Vodafone Group’s Web Simplicity norm.
