Call To Architecture — Jul 2016 by Celfocus

In this second edition of CALL, we are going to continue sharing and celebrating our most recent achievements. Looking at each success story as inspiration to project into future accomplishments.

In the first edition, we let music inspire us. Music, which always results from great portions of inspiration, genius and technique. In this edition, we brought architecture, which is something of great importance to our work.

After all, how can we assure the quality and certainty of results – regardless of the location or project we are working on? To do so, we need to be able to execute what we project, which does not allow for improvise.

We know there are similarities between the architecture of homes and buildings and the architecture of Information Systems. Something that holds, organizes, and defines. It gives consistency and shape to the way we solve complex problems, in a sustainable and durable way. With that, we gain the freedom to risk and create something new, something that is capable of surprising and innovating.

Like music, like architecture – our success depends on the ability to project what we are going to execute.

Bringing the Dealer Sales Portal to Apple

The Dealer Sales Portal (DSP) is a web application used by dealers and retail stores, which simplifies the sales process. Allowing dealers to perform an electronic customer registration, process mandated by Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), manage offers on Consumer and Enterprise customers, as well as easily search for customers using their mobile or account number.

By streamlining recurring processes and having a 360º view on customer information, this portal saves dealers time.

In March 2016, Celfocus took the DSP to Apple Stores across the United Arab Emirates.

This project focused on taking the DSP to iPads (iOS 9), previously only available on Windows tablets with Chrome and IE11 browsers. Ultimately, allowing dealers to provide du’s customers with the opportunity to swap between pre-paid to post-paid, swap SIM cards, activate data bundles and mobile plans at Apple Stores.

Despite Celfocus’ successful delivery, Apple Stores in Dubai have yet to take full advantage of the DSP, as they are currently awaiting certification by the Emirates Identity Authority. This certification will allow Apple agents to validate customer Emirates ID in real-time, enabling electronic customer registration via iPad and TRA compliant.

Voice solution reaches Vodafone Turkey and Albania

One Net is an innovative voice solution that fully integrates landlines, mobiles and software-based phones.

Completely adapted to the enterprise market needs, One Net supports from the most basic call handling features, such as diverting calls to voicemail, to the highly configurable call queuing and routing mechanisms ensuring that companies never miss a call. Whether users are at the office using their desk phone or on the move, using their mobile or laptop, our solution provides them with all the call handling features they need.

In March 2016, despite each countries specificities and challenges, Celfocus successfully delivered One Net to both Vodafone Turkey and Vodafone Albania.

Vodafone Turkey is the first OpCo to have One Net deployed over the new Nokia/ALU platform. Despite the additional functionalities requested for this project, Celfocus successfully delivered the solution without further delaying delivery dates.

Once delivered, we were able to mature and improve our solution. These additional features include a new user detection mechanism, which automatically sends new users a password via SMS, a call log and reporting generator, and a new authentication method.

In Vodafone Albania, where a similar solution was already present, the project team migrated data to One Net. Although, a voice solution was already in place, One Net now allows Vodafone Albania to evolve their solution and keep up to pace with market trends.

Accurate Calculations for M2M partners

Partner Revenue Sharing for IoT/M2M is a core component of Celfocus’ Unified Billing solution.

It is designed to automate the revenue sharing process between Vodafone and Partner Markets, by producing detailed monthly reports(RPSS) with a low level of data granularity, configuring new revenue share models, and providing accurate calculations based on partner and event attributes.

This solution facilitates the creation of new finance models that enable revenue share agreements between VF and its partners. Ultimately, allowing Vodafone to enhance its IoT/M2M offering and sign agreements in non-OpCo markets, markets in which Vodafone is not present for example: Switzerland, Iceland, Brazil, Belgium, Canada and Qatar.

Overall, Celfocus’ delivery allows Vodafone to reduce the number of manual activities, and subsequently increase the accuracy of revenue share results.

Celfocus’ participation in this project was extremely important, as it is the first deployment, in both Europe and the Vodafone Group, of Oracle’s new Elastic Charging Engine (ECE) and Billing and Revenue Management (BRM).

New services for your car.

The Automotive industry is one of Vodafone Global’s main focuses for the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) business. With the emergence of the connected car, Vodafone moves from being a connectivity provider to granting end-to-end services for vehicle owners and users.

In June 2016, Celfocus enabled Vodafone Global to tap into a new revenue stream, car owners and users. In addition to the built-in telematics & infotainment services already provided by their car manufacturer, these new features enable car owners to purchase a range of bundles (Daily, Monthly or Yearly) tailored to their needs, control their data consumption in real-time and manage their service using a Self-care portal.

This milestone gives Vodafone an important edge on the competitive M2M market- by sharing the revenue from Over-the-top services with car manufactures.

Today, BMW & Mercedes already offer IITC in seven countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. Upcoming releases will expand IITC to other brands and geographies.
