Chernobyl life in the dead zone

Wildlife finds a way to thrive in the aftermath of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.

This environmental tragedy is bittersweet. The man-made disaster that ruined this place and made it uninhabitable for people but turned it into a unique sanctuary for the wildlife. Remarkably, nature has licked its wounds and fought back to reclaim this place. And while we may not know what lies ahead for the radioactive animals of Chernobyl, we do know that there are now a lot more wildlife than there used to be.
